Is it normal if the next one is late or weird?

Yes. Early cycles can be irregular for a while. Flow, timing, and symptoms can vary. Track dates (notes app is fine). Seek medical advice if bleeding is extremely heavy (soaking pads very fast), you feel faint, or pain is severe.
